The Broome County Re-entry Program
The Broome County Re-entry Program (BCRP) assists formerly incarcerated men and women returning to Broome County to overcome barriers in order to transition back into the community. The Re-entry Program provides direct and referral services to meet the identified needs of each participant. BCRP provides opportunities for community education and collaboration in order to reduce barriers and recidivism.
Criminal Justice Initiative
The Criminal Justice Initiative provides education, peer training, outreach, and linkage and navigation services within designated facilities in the Elmira HUB of New York State prison system. Linkage and navigation services help People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are re-entering the community with establishing medical care, support services, and housing. This ensures that they will have access to the necessary medications and supports to stay healthy and help prevent new HIV and Hepatitis C/STDs infections. Peer training services train the incarcerated about HIV/Hepatitis C/STDs, so that they can share this information with other incarcerated individuals. Staff members also offer general HIV/Hepatitis/STD educational sessions, as many individuals in facilities have a lack of knowledge about HIV infection and Hepatitis C, and may not have accurate knowledge about how to prevent transmission.
Alternatives to Incarceration Program
Our Alternatives to Incarceration Program works with individuals in the Broome County Jail by assisting with discharge/transition back into the community and facilitating a researched and proven group cognitive behavioral intervention.
